Welcome to the Neighborhood Hub!
We are dedicated to building a Neighborhood Hub that cultivates collaboration, resilience, and opportunity, serving as a catalyst for positive change in East Kinston.
Our organization’s most recent effort has been the development of the Neighborhood Hub. The purpose of this facility, an abandoned home that our organization acquired and renovated in 2018, is to serve as a Hub for youth-led and neighborhood focused resiliency initiatives. Through the Hub, we provide a community pantry, meeting space, and free technology use, as well as host monthly gatherings with food, health resources, and social opportunities for neighborhood residents. Formerly called the Kinston Teens Neighborhood Hub, we envision the East Kinston Neighborhood Hub being a catalyst for positive development and community building in our beloved neighborhood.
We are currently working with the Raleigh-based architecture studio Design Workshop to create a site and facility framework plan for a larger facility that is more responsive to the needs of our organization and community. Our vision for this space is for it to be one that is multi-functional—with the ability to hold large meetings and gatherings, to be used as a community resilience hub and staging area for emergency relief and response efforts, to be renewable and sustainable, and to have a solar microgrid to collect and store energy to keep the facility (and our programs) operational in the event of a disaster or power outage.
